PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Upon the appointment for Design and Building Contract for The Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Morogoro Water Treatment Plant by the Millennium Challenge Account – Tanzania and The Government of The United Republic of Tanzania as the Project Financier, MORUWASA and Nicholas O’ Dwyer as The Main Consultant for the project, it was decided that The Whole Water Treatment Plant and Facilities should be Re-Surveyed and appraised for the future use by the people of Morogoro Township based on the provided future population demand for clean water supply.
From the survey it was revealed that above 75% of the existing Old Facilities were Worn-Out and need immediate replacement. based on the capacity and tolerance to stability. The Facilities Survey was based on The Assessment for The State and Structural Integrity in the relations to the future demand for water supply to the projected population of the people in Morogoro Town. From this Assessment and Survey New Water Treatment Plant Structures were proposed for the design in order to meet the future demand for water supply in Morogoro Township.
The New structures proposed were designed for adequate water processing capacity and efficiency as part of the improvements for future supply of water based on the projected demand of users in Morogoro Town. After the Detailed Assessment of State and Structural Integrity of existing Water Treatment Structures, Water and Process Engineers who are the experts in Water Treatment Plants designed New Reinforced Concrete Facilities for the Expansion and Rehabilitation.
The design proposal was submitted to Nicholas O’ Dwyer as Main Consultant in Water Treatment Plant and ESM Consulting Engineers Co. Ltd as The Local Civil and Structures Engineer for the Project. All the Civil and Structures Designs were conducted in Tanzania by the Local Consultant and later submitted to The Main Consultant for Design Review and Approval. After the design was completed, full packages of Engineering Drawings, Bar Bending Schedules and Specifications were produced for construction of the Water Treatment Structures.
